Richard Lewis, the cherished stand-up comedian renowned for his role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” has passed away, as confirmed by his publicist.
At the age of 76, Lewis succumbed to a heart attack at his residence in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, as disclosed by his publicist, Jeff Abraham.
In April, Lewis had bravely disclosed his battle with Parkinson’s disease.
In a statement, Abraham conveyed Joyce Lapinsky, Lewis’ wife, gratitude for the outpouring of love, friendship, and support, and requested privacy during this period of mourning.
Lewis is currently appearing in the concluding season of Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on HBO.
David expressed his grief on Wednesday over the loss of his lifelong friend. “Richard and I entered this world within three days of each other in the same hospital, and he has been akin to a brother to me for most of my life,” David stated. “He possessed that extraordinary blend of being hilariously funny and genuinely kind. However, today, he brought tears to my eyes, and for that, I’ll never forget him.”
