Tyson Fury Teases Wilder Ring Return After Upset Defeat By Parker

Tyson Fury anticipates that former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will make a comeback to the ring following his one-sided defeat to Joseph Parker in December.

Originally, the plan was for Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) to face Deontay Wilder, but after Wilder’s loss to Parker (34-3, 23 KOs), Joshua found himself without an opponent. As a result, Francis Ngannou (0-1) was brought in to fight Joshua this Friday (March 8) in the Saudi capital.

Ngannou exceeded all expectations in his professional debut on October 28, notably dropping Fury in the third round and narrowly losing to the former UFC heavyweight champion in a split decision.

Fury (with a record of 34-0-1, including 24 KOs), speaking at the final press conference before Joshua’s bout with Ngannou, is confident that Wilder will make a comeback despite his earlier remarks about contemplating retirement.

Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, recently shared on social media that he’s been training with Wilder, working the pads with the former WBC heavyweight champion. This suggests that Wilder intends to continue his career rather than retire.

In an interview with FightHub TV, Fury stated his belief that the 38-year-old Wilder (with a record of 43-3-1, including 42 KOs) will indeed continue fighting. Fury claimed to know Wilder’s next opponent and the venue where the ‘Bronze Bomber’ will compete if he returns to the ring.

“I believe he can make a comeback, absolutely. I’m confident he’ll fight again,” Fury conveyed to FightHub. “In fact, I’m aware that he’s gearing up for another bout, but I can’t disclose the details of the opponent or the date just yet. However, it’s on the horizon—a significant fight with Wilder in the mix.”
