A representative from the Archewell Foundation, affiliated with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, dismissed claims made by a source allegedly close to the couple regarding Kate’s photoshop controversy to Page Six. This statement comes amidst growing speculation surrounding the Mother’s Day image featuring Kate and her three children.
Following Kensington Palace’s release of the first official image of Kate since her recent abdominal surgery, concerns arose regarding potential manipulation, prompting four major picture agencies to withdraw the image.
In response to quotes attributed to a source “close to Prince William, Harry, and his wife” published by Page Six, a spokesperson for the Sussexes clarified to Newsweek that the information did not originate from their camp.
“We did not provide that information to Page Six,” the spokesperson asserted to the US outlet.
After Page Six previously quoted their source as saying Kate’s edited photo “isn’t a mistake that Meghan would ever make” and noted that the Duchess of Sussex “has a keen eye and freakish attention to detail,” questions arose about the potential disparity in treatment between the two couples.
The source further suggested that Harry and Meghan would face severe criticism if they encountered a similar issue, stating, “The same rules do not apply to both couples.”
While the official spokesperson for the Archewell Foundation has distanced the Sussexes from these remarks, it is plausible that Page Six’s source may have originated from someone close to the couple who was not authorized to speak on their behalf.
This controversy emerges in the wake of Meghan and Harry’s photographer speaking out after facing accusations of “doctoring” the couple’s official photograph announcing their second pregnancy.
Photographer Misan Harriman unveiled the unaltered version of the couple’s image in response to recent claims, which he has since dismissed. Harriman clarified that the only modification made was adjusting the “black and white color grade.”
Some critics had alleged that a large tree seen in the background of the photograph, where Meghan rests her head on Harry’s lap, was digitally added to the scene.
Meanwhile, Kate’s Mother’s Day picture remains on the Wales’ official Instagram page, despite recent revelations that the image underwent manipulation and editing by Kate herself.
The controversy reportedly left Kate feeling “very sad” as she had simply aimed for the picture to be flawless, according to The Sun. Royal sources indicated that the Princess of Wales made “minor adjustments” to the photo, and both Kate and the Prince of Wales intended to share an informal family picture for Mother’s Day.
“The Wales family spent Mother’s Day together and enjoyed a wonderful day,” a source stated. However, Kensington Palace announced that they had no plans to reissue the original, unedited photograph.
