The passing of Dr. David Hanbury, an esteemed Averett University Professor, has left the community in mourning. Dr. Hanbury was discovered deceased on Sunday after being reported missing from a conference in Orlando.
Currently, the cause of death remains undetermined, though the Orlando Police have stated that there are no indications of foul play.
According to updates from the university’s Facebook page, Dr. Hanbury was en route to the Southeastern Psychological Association Conference and was last seen on Friday evening.
Orlando police confirmed his discovery as deceased but refrained from disclosing the specific location within the city where he was found.
University officials received news of his passing from his family on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Hanbury joined Averett University in August 2015, assuming the roles of associate professor and co-chair of the psychology department. Additionally, he served as the chair for the division of physical and psychological health sciences.
In a statement released by the university, they expressed heartfelt condolences, stating, “On behalf of the entire Averett University community, we extend our deepest affection, condolences, and prayers of support to Dr. Hanbury’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched profoundly.”
