Marvel’s ‘The Fantastic Four’

The iconic superhero quartet, originally brought to life by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics, will see Pedro Pascal portraying Reed Richards (known as Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (also known as the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (commonly referred to as the Thing).

In an update from Disney, the release dates for “The Fantastic Four” and “Thunderbolts” have been switched, with the former now slated for May 2, 2025, and the latter for July 25, 2025.

While the main cast is set, the pivotal role of Victor von Doom, a formidable antagonist in Marvel lore, remains to be cast.

As is typical with Marvel productions, specific plot details remain scarce. However, in the comic book lore, the Fantastic Four originate as astronauts who undergo a transformative experience when exposed to cosmic rays during a space mission.

Reed acquires the remarkable ability to stretch his body to extraordinary lengths. Sue, Reed’s romantic partner and eventual spouse, gains the power to manipulate light, rendering herself invisible and creating formidable force fields. Johnny, Sue’s brother, can engulf his body in flames, granting him the capability of flight. Meanwhile, Ben, Reed’s closest companion, undergoes a complete physical metamorphosis into a being known as the Thing, characterized by a body composed of immense, orange-colored boulders, affording him incredible strength. However, Ben grapples with inner turmoil over his altered, seemingly monstrous form.
