In the lead-up to Monday’s historic solar eclipse, Airbnb experienced a surge in bookings. Nearly 90% of listings along the path of totality, where the moon will entirely obscure the sun, are already reserved for the night before the event. According to Airbnb data, approximately a quarter of guests with U.S. stays on April 7 have secured accommodations within the eclipse’s path.
Based on Airbnb data, notable areas with high occupancy rates include Buffalo, New York; Stowe, Vermont; Cleveland, Ohio; Rochester, New York; Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as Dallas and San Antonio, Texas. The excitement surrounding this historic event has attracted guests from over 100 countries and regions worldwide, including distant places like the Democratic Republic of Congo, Oman, Bahrain, and Brunei, who are making their way to North America to witness the spectacle.
Depending on weather conditions, the first location in continental North America to witness totality will be Mexico’s Pacific coast at approximately 11:07 a.m. PDT, as reported by NASA. The eclipse’s path will then enter the United States through Texas, traversing through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine before proceeding into Canada.
Additionally, Tennessee and Michigan sections will also be experiencing the total solar eclipse. The eclipse will enter Canada via Southern Ontario, continuing through Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Breton.
