Millions Brace for Dangerous Storm System in Ohio Valley and Northeast A perilous storm system is traversing parts of the Ohio Valley and Northeast, prompting weather alerts for millions. The system brings heavy rain, potential isolated tornadoes, and snow.

A severe weather outbreak is imminent for the Ohio Valley, middle Tennessee, and the Southeast, with multiple rounds of storms forecasted to persist throughout Tuesday, continuing into the evening. Already, the Ohio Valley faces intense storm conditions. Tornado watches were issued for around 4 million people along the Ohio River until noon ET, with storms potentially carrying 90 mph straight-line winds.

Across a vast stretch from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast, a significant severe storm outbreak endangers 54 million people. Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton stated that one weather-related injury was reported in the city, with no further details provided. The Lexington Fire Department received 61 emergency service calls, including two for trees crashing into homes and two structure fires caused by downed power lines, according to the mayor’s Tuesday statement.

Additionally, “three injury collisions” and seven collisions without injuries were reported.

Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency in Kentucky due to the severe weather. “In a statement, Beshear mentioned, ‘We’ve received reports of significant damage to numerous structures, and thankfully, as of now, there are no reported fatalities.'””We urge all Kentuckians to remain vigilant as we anticipate further severe weather throughout the afternoon and evening.”

The National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center announced on Tuesday the forecast for late-season heavy snow and gusty winds in the Great Lakes and Northeast through midweek.

Wisconsin has been issued a winter storm warning starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday and lasting until 1 p.m. Wednesday.Over the next 24 hours, significant wet heavy snow, wind gusts of up to 40 mph, and hazardous road conditions are expected. Snowfall will persist in northeast Wisconsin until Thursday as the storm moves through, with clear skies expected on Friday.
