Warner Bros. is significantly investing in the career of Timothée Chalamet. The studio has inked a multi-year feature film agreement with the actor, positioning him to participate as both a leading actor and producer in forthcoming projects.
Chalamet’s recent endeavors with Warner Bros. have yielded consecutive box office successes, notably with December’s “Wonka” ($632 million globally) and March’s “Dune: Part Two” ($575 million globally and climbing).
According to studio reports, he achieved the rare feat of being the first actor in four decades to headline the top two domestic films released within an eight-month timeframe.
In light of these impressive box office performances, Chalamet can anticipate a substantial increase in compensation. Sources indicate he garnered over $8 million for his role in “Wonka.” Now, he’s poised for paydays surpassing the ten million mark for his leading roles in studio productions.
Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, serving as co-chairs and CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, expressed their enthusiasm over Timothée Chalamet’s decision to align with their studio as his creative hub.
Within the framework of this first-look arrangement, while Chalamet retains the option to pursue projects elsewhere, Warner Bros. will be granted priority consideration for supporting his potential ventures.
“In recent years, we’ve witnessed Timothée’s exceptional dedication to his craft, evident in the breadth and depth of his diverse roles,” they conveyed in a joint statement. “His steadfast commitment to delivering his absolute best to every project, both within Warner Bros. and beyond, has been truly commendable. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with him on the promotional campaigns for ‘Dune’ and ‘Wonka,’ and the outcomes speak volumes.”
Chalamet has garnered acclaim primarily as an actor, notably featuring in Oscar best picture nominees such as “Call Me by Your Name,” “Lady Bird,” “Little Women,” and “Dune.” However, he has also ventured into production, contributing to Luca Guadagnino’s cannibal love story “Bones and All,” in which he stars alongside Taylor Russell, and James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” currently in production.
Reflecting on his experiences collaborating with Mike De Luca, Pam Abdy, and their teams on “Wonka” and “Dune” in recent years, Chalamet expressed his gratitude, stating, “These are studio leaders who champion authentic filmmaking, and I’m immensely thankful for their backing as an actor, producer, and creative partner. This collaboration feels like a natural progression. Let’s embark on this journey together!”
